Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 1, 2026
Homeschooly ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us.
Cloud Sync (Optional)
Cloud sync is optional. You can continue using Homeschooly without signing in and keep your records local-only.
If you stay in local-only mode, your data remains on your device.
If you choose to enable cloud sync, you ask us to create and maintain an online account for you and to store and synchronise your records with our cloud providers so backup, cross-device sync, and web access can work.
Where your synced records include mood-related records or other information that applicable law treats as special category or health-related data, you expressly consent to our processing of that information for cloud backup, sync, and account access.
You can withdraw that consent at any time by turning off cloud sync or deleting your online account. Withdrawal will not affect processing already carried out before withdrawal.
How We Use Your Information
We use personal data to authenticate users, provide optional cloud sync and web access, deliver and secure core features, manage subscriptions and entitlements, support account recovery and deletion requests, and monitor service reliability.
We use learner, activity, note, photo, and planning data only to provide cloud backup, sync, and account functionality for you. We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
Providing account and authentication data is required only if you want cloud sync or web access. If you do not provide it, you can still use Homeschooly in local-only mode.
What Information We Collect (When Cloud Sync Is Enabled)
In local-only mode, records stay on your device. If you choose cloud sync, we store the limited data needed to back up and sync your records across devices and to let you access them in the web app.
We use this cloud data only for backup, sync, and web app access for your account. We do not use it for any other purpose.
- Learner profiles (for example learner name and date of birth).
- Activity records (titles/notes, dates, mood ratings, durations, categories, and planning data).
- Photos attached to records.
- Account and subscription metadata needed to run cloud access and entitlement checks.
- Limited reliability and security logs.
Lawful Bases for Processing (GDPR/UK GDPR)
When GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following lawful bases depending on the processing activity:
- Contract: to create and manage your online account, authenticate you, provide optional cloud sync if you enable it, provide web access, and process account deletion requests.
- Legitimate interests: to secure, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve Homeschooly and prevent misuse.
- Explicit consent: where applicable, for mood-related or other special category data you choose to include in synced cloud records.
- Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose information to comply with applicable law.
Supabase (Authentication, Database, and Storage)
We use Supabase as a processor for authentication, database hosting, and storage for synced cloud records. Supabase processes data on our instructions to provide secure sign-in, cloud persistence, and account operations.
Third-Party Service (RevenueCat)
We use RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases and subscriptions (receipt validation, restore purchases, entitlement sync across devices). RevenueCat will collect and process purchase-related data such as purchase events, subscription status, renewal dates, and an anonymous App User ID necessary to manage entitlements.
Payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not receive or store your payment card details.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with processors that help us operate Homeschooly, such as Supabase (cloud/auth infrastructure), RevenueCat (subscription operations), and Apple or Google (billing and sign-in infrastructure).
Email Communications
We may use your email address to send service messages and product announcements about Homeschooly.
If we send marketing emails, we will do so in line with applicable law and you can opt out at any time by contacting [email protected].
International Transfers
If you enable cloud sync, your synced data is processed using our cloud providers, including infrastructure in the United States (currently Ashburn, Virginia).
We also use RevenueCat for subscriptions; RevenueCat is US-based and may process data in the United States and other jurisdictions.
Where international transfers occur, we rely on provider safeguards and contractual protections (such as standard contractual clauses where applicable).
Data Retention
If you use Homeschooly in local-only mode, your records stay on your device and are not stored on Homeschooly cloud servers.
If you enable cloud sync, we retain your synced account data while your cloud account is active so backup and cross-device sync can function.
If you delete your online account, this removes your synced cloud account data from our active systems; your local data on your device is not deleted.
We and our service providers may retain limited operational logs and backup copies for a short period for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, and disaster recovery.
RevenueCat retains purchase and subscription records under its own policies.
Deleting Your Online Account (Mobile and Web)
Mobile app: Account -> Delete Online Account.
Web app: Dashboard -> Settings -> Delete Account.
Both flows delete the online cloud account and synced cloud records. This does not remove local records on your mobile device unless you delete them separately.
If you cannot access either flow, contact [email protected] and we will help process your request.
Your GDPR Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to processing, and receive a copy of your data in a portable format. You may also withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
We do not carry out solely automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We do use automated checks (for example subscription/access eligibility checks) to operate cloud/web access.
Right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner (ICO): https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/
Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information. No system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, but we continuously work to protect your data.
Children's Data
Homeschooly is intended for parents or guardians to manage their own homeschooling records, which may include children's learning information entered by the parent or guardian.
If you upload or sync information about a child, you confirm that you are the child's parent or guardian or are otherwise authorised to provide that information and, where applicable, to give any required consent on the child's behalf.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
