APPROACH AND CONTEXT

Maya learned through a flexible mix of shared reading, short maths sessions, cooking, library visits, nature walks, drawing, and questions that came up in daily life. We adjusted the pace when she needed more practice and followed up topics that caught her interest.

LEARNING EXAMPLES

Reading and writing
Maya read a chapter book aloud most days and kept a small book of new words. She wrote a two-page review of her favourite character and used full stops and paragraph breaks more consistently by the end of the term.

Maths
She practised addition, subtraction, fractions, and money through recipes, shopping games, and short workbook activities. She can now explain how she worked out change for amounts under £10.

Wider learning
She kept a nature journal after weekly walks, made a labelled pollinator poster, and used watercolours to illustrate it. A library visit led to a short project about bees and growing conditions.

PROGRESS AND NEXT STEP

Maya is more willing to read unfamiliar words aloud and to explain her maths thinking. Next term we will keep building reading stamina, revisit multiplication facts through games, and extend her nature project into a simple growing experiment.
